Immersive experience using motifs from floor art of Southern India
The installation ‘Prism’ tries to emulate an immersive experience using the motifs inspired from the Rangoli floor art of southern India called ‘muggulu’. This form of art is practised across India and is usually very geometrical and intricate. It predominantly uses a calculated dot pattern from which a multitude of designs are achieved.
Concept Note
We want to pay homage to this great art form and thereby promote diversity and multiculturalism .
Four standalone floor art patterns are installed in a sequence to form a multilayered artwork which appears as one single entity. In the middle of the larger than life installation there will be a hollow opening in the shape of a human silhouette that performartes the whole installation. This will allow the audience to enter the work and engage intimately with the artwork.
